Julia Prével

Myology of the horse, muscle by muscle

Julia Prével has been passionate about horses since she was very young.
After a school career in the field of horse riding, she pursued her vocation as a manual equine masseuse. She has been doing this for several years.

Julia attaches great importance to the well-being and care of horses.

During her training as a masseuse, she started to draw the muscles one by one in order to visualise them well. A friend from training saw them and pushed her to publish this book. After 4 years of fine-tuning the drawings and texts, it was published in 2022.

"The idea of this book is to make the myology of the horse, which is often perceived as complex, more accessible. Having studied in the equine environment myself, it is not always easy to visualise and understand the musculature of the horse, especially when one is faced with drawings of muscles in the middle of others cut out on anatomy boards. And yet, this approach is fundamental to the performance and well-being of the horse.
It is therefore with a playful and artistic approach that I have published my book, to offer readers a pleasant, easy and intuitive learning experience.

Clémence
Former Equiphysio student

My name is Clémence, I did the Equiphysio training in 2020 and when I saw the advertisement for this book, I thought it looked incredible!
It was given to me as a Christmas present and I’m starting to discover it, it’s beautiful, the drawings are clear and precise and really make me want to review and deepen everything I’ve learned in class: to be a better masseuse.

I saw that the author had also done the Equiphysio training, it made me laugh, they should take this book as a support for their courses: it’s much more engaging.
All that to say bravo and wow!

François
Equine enthusiast

I wanted to thank you for the kind dedication on your book, which I was given.
Having just leafed through it for the moment, I am impressed by the quality and especially the number of sketches you have done. A very beautiful and rich work, really!
I am very interested in equine biomechanics, and your book will shed new light on my meagre knowledge in this field. Thank you once again.

Luce
Animal osteopathy student

Hello, I’m in my first year of animal osteopathy and your book has literally reconciled me with myology. You’ve done a great job and will be of use to many students. I’ve already spread the word to my class! You were right to put it on paper, the information is clear and detailed at the same time.
The drawings are beautiful and clear. I think it’s important to give feedback. I ordered it directly from the association’s website. And by the way, it’s also very responsive: ordered on Tuesday, Saturday in my mailbox!

Maud
