Understanding the anatomy of the horse

CAMAYA: an association at the service of equine knowledge and learning

Camaya is an association, located in the South West of France in Ares, whose vocation is to promote the knowledge, the learning and the care of the horse.

Composed of passionate people of the equestrian world, the members bring knowledge and know-how to develop many subjects related to horses, their well-being and their health.

It is in this same dynamic that Julia Prével, an active member of the Camaya association, decided to use her professional skills as an equine manual masseuse, in order to conceive a book that brings many details on the anatomy of the horse.

"The idea with this book is to popularize and make accessible the myology of the horse, often perceived as complex. Having studied in the equine environment myself, it is not always easy to visualize and understand the musculature of a horse in all its forms when faced with cut muscles. And yet, this approach is fundamental to the performance and well-being of the horse. It is therefore with a playful and artistic approach that I published my book, to offer readers a pleasant, easy and intuitive learning experience."

Discover the muscles of the horse

Head, neck, shoulder... The book deals with all the parts of the horse's body in order to offer you a complete visualisation of the horse's anatomy.
You will find for each muscle the opposite regions: dorsal / ventral, lateral / medial...

Careful visualization of the muscles

To facilitate understanding and illustrate the author's words, Julia Prével, numerous drawings accompany the pages of the book. The graphic treatise makes it easy to visualise the muscle and quickly interpret its movement.

A complete report for each muscle

The muscles are detailed one by one, with an associated explanatory text mentioning the origins, the terminations, the functions... A complete overview of the anatomy of horses.

A reference book to learn the anatomy of the horse

Myology of the horse: muscle by muscle has won over many students and professionals in the equine world. Whether in an educational, academic or professional context, this book has been designed to facilitate access to information and knowledge. Its content is therefore accessible, and even adored by horse enthusiasts.

Clémence
Former Equiphysio student

My name is Clémence, I did the Equiphysio training in 2020 and when I saw the advertisement for this book, I thought it looked incredible!
It was given to me as a Christmas present and I’m starting to discover it, it’s beautiful, the drawings are clear and precise and really make me want to review and deepen everything I’ve learned in class: to be a better masseuse.

I saw that the author had also done the Equiphysio training, it made me laugh, they should take this book as a support for their courses: it’s much more engaging.
All that to say bravo and wow!

François
Equine enthusiast

I wanted to thank you for the kind dedication on your book, which I was given.
Having just leafed through it for the moment, I am impressed by the quality and especially the number of sketches you have done. A very beautiful and rich work, really!
I am very interested in equine biomechanics, and your book will shed new light on my meagre knowledge in this field. Thank you once again.

Luce
Animal osteopathy student

Hello, I’m in my first year of animal osteopathy and your book has literally reconciled me with myology. You’ve done a great job and will be of use to many students. I’ve already spread the word to my class! You were right to put it on paper, the information is clear and detailed at the same time.
The drawings are beautiful and clear. I think it’s important to give feedback. I ordered it directly from the association’s website. And by the way, it’s also very responsive: ordered on Tuesday, Saturday in my mailbox!

Maud

Bravo for the book, it’s really top-notch ! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply so quickly.

Rachel
